Comedian Isma Almas is British multiculturalism at its best: Bradford-born and a childhood split between Pakistan and Yorkshire. Her comedy is fused by her unique take on life as a British Muslim woman.
She is a regular on the UK comedy circuit, and has performed solo shows at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, London’s Barbican Centre for Stonewell, Bradford’s Literature Festival, and on a luxury gay cruise around the Mediterranean.
With an academic background in Social Sciences and Social Work, Isma’s career outside of comedy has included working in a forensic unit for mental health patients as well as managing independent fostering agencies.
Isma Almas won The First Laugh at Sheffield Comedy Festival, made it to the final of Funny Women, and was a semi-finalist at So You Think You’re Funny.

Isma uses her multicultural background to break down stereotypes through her quit wit. Her unique comedy sets have audiences laughing up and down the UK, with topics including ISIS, her personal experience of discrimination, and what it means to be British. With a range of content, her jokes resonate with all audiences and are a guaranteed hit, no matter the occasion.
She has been heard on the radio and on various podcasts, spending six months co-presenting the mid-morning show on BBC Radio Leeds, and appearing on a range of BBC Asian Network shows. She has also appeared on Richard Herring’s Leicester Square podcast, Drunk Women Solving Crime, Evil Genius, The Naked Podcast, Stephen K Amos Talk Show, and Happy Mummy, Happy Baby.
