Best known as the originator of the 4th Industrial Revolution, Henrik von Scheel is the founder of Strategic Intelligence, providing global trends reports and content for the World Economic Forum PIF, McKinsey, and nations.
He is also a professor in strategy management and economics with over 20 years dedicated to researching strategy and futures studies. His work has influenced 24 national economies and almost a quarter of Fortune 500 fastest-growing companies, earning him recognition from The Financial Times as a leading authority on strategy.
He is now a highly sought-after speaker and advisor on the toughest issues in the corporate world today.
Learning to live with a severe form of double deficit dyslexia and stuttering, Henrik von Scheel unknowingly told his disability into a gift to recognise patterns, going on to spend 20 years studying the scientific disciplines of patternicity, statistical analysis, and probabilistic analysis.
In 2009, and as part of the advisory council at the Federal Ministry of Economy and Technology, Henrik and Professor August Wilhelm Scheer ignited the global digital theme of today, playing a significant role in defining Germany’s future digital strategy. Their digital agenda was adopted by the European Commission the following year, and has since evolved into the European Digital Revolution.
Then in 2011, he coined the term ‘4th Industrial Revolution’, becoming an inter-ministerial innovation policy initiative in 2013. The 1st industrial revolution began in the 18th century with the mechanisation of the textile industry; the 2nd began in the 19th century with electricity and mass production; and the 3rd in the middle of the 20th century with the harness of electronics and information technology. His coined 4th industrial revolution began in Germany at the start of the 21st century with the fusion of the digital, physical and virtual world.
