A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, Helen Astrid is a professional opera singer and performer, as well as a corporate singing workshop creator. Helen joined a distinguished alumni of the Royal Academy of Music, with fellow graduates including Sir Elton John, Sir Simon Rattle, and Annie Lennox.
During her career as an opera singer, Helen has performed at major venues throughout the UK, including ENO, Linbury Studio-Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and Garsington Festival. She has sung in my UK premieres, such as Die Ă€gyptische Helene (Garsington) and Daphne (QEH), both Richard Strauss conducted by Norman Del Mar, Terrible Mouth for ENO (Almeida Festival), and she composed âTis Late, Itâs Ten PMâ for TĂȘte Ă TĂȘte Festival, with playwright Bettina Gracias. She also appeared in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hit show Phantom of the Opera, winner of three Olivier Awards.
She now devotes her time to teaching, leading choirs, and corporate singing workshops. She also presents Opera Live At Home.
Helen Astrid produced the UK premiere of The Juniper Tree by Philip Glass in London, to great critical acclaim, and has even collaborated with BrenĂ© Brown (UK Home Office), Joanna Lumley (Save the Elephants fundraising concert), and the Yo! Sushi founder Simon Woodroffeâs Edinburgh Festival debut.
She was involved with the Music and Drama Festival Richmond; participated in the Rugby World Cup song which was conducted by Nicholas Cleobury; and she gave a series of lectures on the history of opera for the Bishopsgate Institute, humour in opera for Marlborough College Summer School, and opera insights for Benslow Music.
Helen Astrid is a highly sought-after opera consultant for television, radio and other media, including for the BBC. She has been a guest on The Paul OâGrady Show, BBC World News, Channel 4âs What the Butler Saw, and BBC Radio 4âs World at One News, where she sung in the style of Margaret Thatcher.

In 2013, Helen Astrid published her first book, Singing Tips At Your Fingertips, which was an Amazon bestseller and described by Gary Lachman in The Guardian as âthe place to find the singer withinâ.
Helen presents Opera Live At Home, and has featured singers including Katie Coventry, Milly Forrest, and Jessica Cale. Helen coaches in English, French, German, Italian, and Russian, and has students living in as far and wide as London, Paris, Dubai, Moscow, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Toronto, and Melbourne.
The Helen Astrid Singing Academy is London-based organisation providing students with access to exclusive singing opportunities. She offers in-person and virtual singing lessons, training professional and non-professional singer, as well as helping prepare individuals for exams.
Helen now runs team-building singing sessions for blue-chip corporate companies.
She believes that learning to sing can benefit health and wellbeing, and preparing for a performance, whilst being fun and reducing stress levels. She shares voice techniques to enable attendees to be free, happy, and in control.
She has taught at the International School of London, and has conducted workplace choirs including the Health & Vitality Choir, Twickenham Chamber Choir, and Richmond Corporate Choir.
