Greg James is an award-winning broadcaster, best known for hosting the Radio 1 Breakfast Show. He is also a popular DJ, television personality, and author.
He joined Radio 1 in 2007, hosting the early morning slot before moving to the afternoon for nine years, and then joined the Breakfast show in 2018. He also presents the BBC Radio 4 series Rewinders.

Greg James’ interest in radio started young, and he presented several shows on the students’ union radio station at University, going on to become the station manager in 2006. He also presented a range of shows on Future Radio and Pulse Rate, before getting his big break at BBC Radio 1 in 2007.
He started presenting the Radio 1 Early Breakfast show on a Friday, and as cover for other presenters such as Sara Cox. By the end of 2007, he was awarded the Early Breakfast Show five days a week. Two years later, he moved to the early afternoon slot. He has also hosted the Official Chart Update, as well as 5 Live’s Not Just Cricket, and Fighting Talk, and BBC Radio 4’s Rewinder.

James is also a successful television presenter and guest star. He has presented programmes such as Sun, Sex and Suspicious Parents (2009), Unzipped (2012), How to Win Eurovision (2013), Sport Relief (2016), Children in Need (2016), The One Show (2016-21), Sounds Like Music Night (2017-18), The Great Travel Hack (2019), Rise and Fall (2023), and The Unofficial Science of Indiana Jones (2024).

Greg often uses his platform to raise awareness and funds for a range of charities.
In 2013, along with Jack Dee, Dara Ó Briain, Melanie C, Philips Idowu, and Chelsea Healey, Greg journeyed along the Zambezi River for five days, raising over £1 million for Comic Relief. In 2015, he travelled to Uganda to take part in Operation Health, rebuilding a health centre using money raised by Comic Relief – the operation would go on to raise more than half a million pounds.
He has also raised a lot of money for Sport Relief. He was part of ‘Team Coe’ in the Sport Relief: Clash of the Titans in 2014; completed five triathlons in five days in five different UK cities, raising £1 million; and undertook Pedal to the Peaks, cycling over 500 miles and climbing Snowdon, Scafell Pike, and Ben Nevis, once again raising over £1 million.
Greg is also an ambassador for The Stroke Association and The Lord Taverners, supports Coppafeel, and took part in the 2012 NHS Team Give Blood campaign.
