Dr Raphael Olaiya is a doctor, Lead Data Scientist within the NHS, expert in scientific software development and, with his twin brother Dr Dan Olaiya, a presenter of the Bafta-winning cBBC programme Operation Ouch.
Dr Raphael is also a qualified fitness trainer who helps people reach optimal quality of life, combining his experience of medicine and evidence-based research on achieving the optimum wellbeing.
Through coaching and 1 to 1 fitness sessions, he focuses on sustainable methods covering sleep, mindfulness, nutrition, health, and exercise, bringing them all together as a package. He believes that holistic wellbeing is the key to quality of life which he says we all deserve as a birthright.
Utilising leading technologies such as AI, VR and AR, Raphael Olaiya is revolutionising medical tools and software, having founded Medigage, a MedTech company that focuses on the development and application of virtual technologies.
Following his ground-breaking work, Dr Raphael Olaiya was invited to the Innovation in Healthcare Panel hosted by TEDx, where he demonstrated his expertise in the application of digital technologies in medical settings.

Raphael completed his Bachelor’s degree in Medicine at the University of Liverpool. He went on to complete a Master’s degree in Data Science and Computer Science at UCL, becoming an expert in data science and scientific software development. In 2015 he became a Medical Product Development Director at Olive Media, developing innovative medical education online e-learning products and devising strategies to take them to market.
Founding Medigage Ltd in 2016, Raphael is at the forefront of incorporating virtual technologies such as Holographic Mixed Reality, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality in medical educational software programmes and hardware. Seeking to shift from dated teaching methods to new and more efficient practices, Raphael uses technology to increase engagement and learning prospects.
Raphael shares his deep knowledge of virtual technologies, writing on the virtual reality website VRFocus, making predictions and evaluations for the future of VR in healthcare. He has also written a chapter in New Perspective on Virtual and Augmented Reality.
