Dr Ramisha Rafique is a specialist in equity, diversity, inclusion, and Islamophobia. She is also a Lecturer at Nottingham Trent University in âCultural Heritage and Travel Writingâ.
She is a highly sought-after corporate speaker, working across professional sectors, supporting institutions to shift culture and develop more inclusive spaces. Her work has led to truly transformational milestones, including the adoption of a definition and amendments to University-wide NEC policies, formally recognising Islamophobia and lunar calendar events such as Ramadan.
In early 2025, Dr Ramisha Rafique became the Director of Essential Praxis Consulting, where she develops and delivers tailored workshops, seminars, and training sessions on Islamophobia, Decolonisation and Inclusion, and inclusive policy change for higher education establishments and companies.
Through bespoke consultancy, training sessions, and workshops, she helps institutions to embed long-term change, not just box-tick diversity efforts.
She brings years of experience at the intersection of impact, research, and creative practice. Her research specialisms are grounded in combining creative-critical practice.
Her doctoral research at Nottingham Trent University explored decolonial thinking, Islamophobia, and the Postcolonial Flâneuse through an examination of British Muslim womenâs writing. It is due to be published in September 2025.

I have had the privilege of working alongside Ramisha in both artistic and academic spaces. In either environment, her level of professionalism and clarity of presentation is second to none. During poetry and spoken word performances, Ramisha never fails to captivate her audience, utilising a stage presence and natural sense of confidence that helps immerse the viewer/listener within her narratives.
During presentations, in taught sessions, and in class-based environments, Ramisha retains a unique blend of formality and inclusivity that empowers learners to engage in discussion and collaboration whilst remaining focused on the learning process. I can honestly say that conferences organized by Ramisha have had a permanent influence on my understanding of the world, my approach to creativity, and my pedagogical practice.
