Dr Daniel Olaiya is a doctor, a critical care anaesthetist, a specialist in aerospace extreme medicine and, with his twin brother Dr Raphael Olaiya, a co-presenter of the Bafta-winning cBBC programme Operation Ouch.
Dr Daniel Olaiya is also a Flying Doctor, repatriating sick patients from all over the World back to the UK.
Dr Daniel has a diverse professional background in anaesthesia, international medical evacuation as a flying doctor and in aerospace medicine. He combines this with a unique ability to teach and share complex topics in simple terms, which are not only accessible but interesting and fascinating.
Currently based at University College London Hospital as an Anaesthetic and Critical Care doctor, Dr Daniel balances his clinical work with academic research, sports, running a podcast and media outreach work – He believes balance is the key to well-being and this is illustrated in his wellbeing talks.
Dr Daniel Olaiya is an engaging and captivating storyteller. Through dynamic storytelling, he captures the imagination of his audiences and communicates valuable lessons and narratives.
As well as co-presenting the CBBC’s Operation Ouch, Dr Daniel also regularly appears on GB News, ITV’s Good Morning Britain and Channel 4. He hosts The Aerospace Medicine podcast, which informs and inspires anyone interested in the field of Aerospace Medicine.
He captivates audiences with his concise and engaging talks, delivering impactful presentations on complex topics in a simplistic and accessible way. He is the perfect speaker on health and wellbeing.
Whilst earning his Bachelor of Medicine at the University of Exeter, Dr Daniel Olaiya also served as a Clinical Research Ambassador and Company Representative for the Wellcome Trust Ltd, contributing to academic clinical research on epigenetics and attending the Evening Standard 1000 Most Influential Londoners event.
Dr Daniel completed his Aeromedical Training to become a Certified Flight Physician in 2017 and embarked on Wilderness Medicine training with World Extreme Medicine.

He has a long history of public speaking, having been a finalist on the BBC’s The Speaker competition when he was 16 years old. Currently, he provides engaging and inspiring talks for school-aged children, teaching resilience and sharing his knowledge in age-appropriate ways.
While working as a doctor in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Dr Daniel won the Scottish people’s champion prize in the Fame Lab science communication competition 2017 and competed again in 2018, performing an entertaining yet informative talk on Magnetic resonance imaging guided focused Ultrasound at the Natural History Museum. He has also provided talks for athletes as a Lecturer at Parkour Generations at their annual conference.
Daniel is always looking to teach and inspire future generations in STEM fields in fun and unconventional ways.
