Dermot won the Newscaster of the Year Award in 2000 from the Television and Radio Industries Club (TRIC). He was presented with the Royal Television Society’s Interviewer of the Year award in 1999 for his interview with Peter Mandelson, which resulted in Mandelson resigning from his role in Cabinet.
