David Jones is one of the foremost sports presenters in the UK, fronting Sky Sports’ flagship football shows Super Sunday and Monday Night Football.
Through a broadcasting career spanning over 20 years, he has become a familiar name to football fans, working with ex-footballers including Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher.
On Super Sunday, he fronts a star-studded panel of guests that includes the likes of Thierry Henry, Graeme Souness, Jamie Redknapp, Roy Keane, and Micah Richards.
He is a highly accomplished sports speaker, presenter, and event host who has developed a ‘boardroom to business’ keynote around football data and marginal gains and how that can transfer to the world of business.
He is a keen charity advocate and hosts an annual fundraising day for Blood Cancer UK.
David Jones has always had a passion for sport, and as a boy he played county cricket for North Yorkshire and represented the district at athletics, hockey, cricket, and football.
His career started in journalism, reporting for Derbyshire Times, before moving to Sky Sports News in 1998 as a reporter and presenter. In 2007, he became the host of Sky’s Football League matches, and since 2012 he has been working exclusively on their Premier League coverage. He has also been the host of The Footballers Football Show, Saturday Night Football, Super Sunday, and Monday Night Football.
He has also covered the UEFA European Qualifiers, England internationals, Champions League, European U21 championships, FA Cup, and even the Olympics and Paralympics – he has clocked up over 500 hours of covering live football matches.
He hasn’t complexly turned his back on journalism, and contributed a weekly column for the Sunderland Echo for two years, and contributed to the book Tales of the Red and Whites: Volume One (2017) all about Sunderland AFC.
He also has unique boardroom experience, becoming a non-executive director for Oxford United Football Club, and then for Sunderland AFC – a team he supported as a boy. His role is to advise the owner on football matters and structure, whilst working with the manager, head of the academy and recruitment, and the operations director. He also works closely with the Sunderland AFC Foundation and works with local media and community groups.
