More About David Hillier

David Hillier joined Arsenal in 1984 and came through the club’s youth ranks, captaining the side that won the 1988 FA Youth Cup.

He progressed to Arsenal’s reserve team, winning the Football Combination title in 1990. His performances saw him step up to the first team squad, making his debut in September 1990, winning a title in his first season.

Injury forced him to miss Arsenal’s FA Cup and League Cup finals in 1993 and their 1994 European Cup Winners Cup final victory, but he did manage to play in the 1995 European Cup Winners Cup final.

David left Arsenal in 1996 after 12 years, before playing for Portsmouth, Bristol Rovers, and Barnet, and then retiring in 2003.

After his playing career, David became a coach and manager. From 2008 to 2013, he worked as manager for the amateur clubs Oldland Abbotonians and Almondsbury UWE.

After retiring from playing and management, he became a fireman in Bristol and set up his own construction company. He has also worked as a commentator for Arsenal games on Arsenal TV.
