David Fishwick is a businessman, investor, author, philanthropist, and experienced entrepreneur who has built six multi-million-pound businesses in the UK and America.
Leaving school without any qualifications, Dave became the largest supplier of minibuses in the UK, and made government members, policy makers, industry regulators, and multinational banks sit up and take notice. He is now building the first new high street bank in Britain for over 150 years.
He is the star of many TV shows, including Channel 4’s The Bank of Dave, and even Hollywood and Netflix are making movies about his life. In 2012, he published his Sunday Times bestselling book, Bank of Dave: How I Took On the Banks.
He is an expert on business, entrepreneurship, and finance, and now shares his story behind taking on seemingly impossible challenges offering valuable lessons to companies large and small.
David Fishwick’s first foray into the business world came about when he was 16. He was an apprentice builder and he hated it, and so he persuaded the owner of a back-street garage to let him take a car, do it up, and sell it on. He worked on the car at night, eventually selling it for £97 – £70 of which went to the garage owner. He was soon selling one car a week, then six a month. After restoring and selling a run-down van, he realised there was real money to be made in vans, and he bought his own garage in 1994.
David Fishwick Van and Minibus Sales is now the biggest minibus supplier in Britain, providing affordable, customised minibuses for schools, community groups, sports teams, and local authorities. It now has a multi-million pound turnover and employs lots of local people.
Dave’s interest in banking began in the wake of the 2008/09 economic crisis, when he realised that high street banks were no longer giving loans to his customers, so he decided to lend them the money himself. It made him want to expand and start his own small bank.
He also owns a residential and commercial property portfolio, and has a commercial vehicle parts business operating throughout Europe.

Dave spoke at our very first Great Business Leaders Forum which was held in London on the 29th May 2014. His presentation was well received as our audience could identify with Dave’s story and his enthusiastic persona.
