The face of Channel 5 weather, Clare Nasir is a fully qualified, Met office trained weather forecaster with over two decades of experience.
Her first love has always been science and the weather. Writing regularly for the Huffington Post on science and weather, her passion is accompanied by a wealth of qualifications, including a BSc in Maths, MSc in Oceanography and a diploma in Environmental Policy.

During her ten years as GMTV’s weather anchor, Clare Nasir was in charge of the output and production for science and weather stories. In 2011, she won the coveted TRIC Award for Best Weather Presenter of the Year.
Clare has also worked as a weather presenter for London Tonight, 5 News, CBBC, BBC North West Tonight, BBC Look North (East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire) and BBC Look North (Yorkshire and North Midlands). She has also presented many travel and lifestyle features, and produced and co-presented the much acclaimed CBBC science documentary Fierce Earth (2013). She recently featured in Channel 4’s Wild Weather series.
Clare has a passion for education and is delighted to have turned her hand to writing, releasing several child-friendly books.
In 2014, Colin the Cloud (Cloud Academy Series 1) was released; a rhyming story for 4-7 year olds, aiming to teach them about weather and simple atmospheric physics. It was well received by children and adults alike, and made it to the Amazon bestsellers list. This has since been followed up by Steve the Stratus (2015), The Showbiz Clouds (2015), and Two Clouds and a Cough (2016).
In 2019, she published What Does Rain Smell Like?: Discover the fascinating answers to the most curious weather questions from two expert meteorologists. Aimed for all ages, and together with Simon King, Clare aimed to reveal the secrets behind the weather, referring to rainbows, lightning, and climate modification.
Clare has a passion for sport and fitness – she works out regularly and enjoys kickboxing. Her first fitness DVD Clare Nasir’s Boot Camp was released in 2009 and became one of the UK’s bestselling workout DVDs.
Clare is the ambassador for the National Campaign on Healthy Air. This involves working closely with an environmental law firm, Client Earth, and speaking for the campaign at the House of Lords. She is also an ambassador for The Prince’s Trust, and a third-party advocate for the nuclear energy industry.
Her passion for sustainability and the environment has seen her speaking to school children about the weather and climate change and how they can help prevent further environmental damage. She recently fronted the Boots Air Pollution Campaign.
She appeared on the podcast The Convex Conversation with Helen Fospero in 2021 to discuss COP26, research happening at the Met Office, and what can be done to improve our understanding of climate science, and reduce negative climate change.
In 2022, Clare hosted the podcast Vertical Farming, ESG & Leadership, where she talked to James Lloyd Jones, the CEO of The Jones Food Company, about alternative ways to produce food through vertical farming, as well as the Managing Director of Discern Sustainability Limited Niall O’Shea, and Sybille Schiffmann, the Managing Director of Deostara Leadership Consultancy; together, they looked into ways to help limit the impact farming is having on the environment, and the importance of making changes at the very top with senior executives, boards and senior leadership teams.
