Charlotte Tilbury’s passion for makeup and beauty started when she was just 13 years old, discovering mascara whilst at boarding school. She would often give her schoolfriends makeup advice, and show them what colours would look best on them.

She first met makeup artist Mary Greenwell when she was a child, and it was she who encouraged Charlotte to train at the Glauca Rossi School of Makeup.

During this time Charlotte met the inspirational make-up artist Mary Greenwell, who encouraged her to train at the Glauca Rossi School of Make-Up. And it would be with Mary that Charlotte had her first professional makeup job.

Ever since then, she has been a passionate advocate of the power of makeup to transform a woman’s features, as well as their confidence and outlook.

Before she launched her own line, she worked with industry leaders to create bestselling products and beauty lines, leading creative product development for brans such as Armani, Burberry, MAC, and Tom Ford.

In 2013, she launched Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Ltd at Selfridges with a line-up of skincare and makeup products. Just two years later she opened up her flagship store in London’s Convent Garden. Her products are now old internationally and at retailers such as Sephora and John Lewis

Throughout her career, she has worked with some of the world’s most recognisable supermodels, and has created cover looks for a range of fashion magazines. She has worked on over 100 Vogue covers, and is the only makeup artist to have had three simultaneous Vogue covers – USA, British, and French. In 2017, she became a contributing editor for the UK version of the fashion magazine.

She has worked on beauty campaigns from fashion house such as Fendi and Prada, and has worked with well-regarded photographers such as Mario Testino. She is a popular makeup choice for fashion shows, working as a makeup artist for Prada, McQueen, Miu Miu, and Lanvin, amongst others. Charlotte has worked with models such as Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Jourdan Dunn, Claudia Schiffer, and Gisele Bündchen, as well as for celebrities Amal Clooney, Salma Hayek, and Sofia Vergara.

She is passionate about bringing her expertise to the masses, and as well as having over 11.6 million social media followers, she launched Charlotte Tilbury TV in 2020 for YouTube.
