Charlie Whyman knows that facing redundancy, navigating career changes, and starting new ventures can be daunting, but she also knows they can be opportunities for growth.
As the Manging Director of TGIS Aviation, Charlies specialises in solving complex, time-critical challenges. She is passionate about helping others to take control of their careers and to build the courage to take action, no matter the obstacles.
With a background in engineering, marketing, and business, Charlie Whyman has built her career across male-dominated industries, including automotive, aviation, mining, and shipping. In 2006, Charlie founded the award-winning Sardinian Olive Oil business Palmavera, and after facing redundancy twice, she launched her own consultancy business in 2017.
As a university dropout with no formal qualifications, Charlie is open and honest about the twists and turns in her career, and uses her story to show that fear doesn’t need to hold you back. Through her experiences as a speaker, business leader, entrepreneur, and parent, she demonstrates that with the right support and courage, it’s possible to take control and create your own path to success.
Charlie Whyman’s career has seen her work for a number of companies in a number of industries, from sports to food, health to marketing, and now aviation. In 2024, she was invited to become the Managing Director for TGIS Aviation, leading a growth strategy she developed as a consultant.
She has worked in administration roles for Sport England, Nottingham Rowing Club, and the NHS and in marketing roles for 3D Laser Mapping and Martek Marine. She is a meeting facilitator and energiser for LinkedIn Local Nottingham, a board member of CompareYourFootprint.com, a regional president for the Professional Speaking Association, and a voluntary business mentor for Tech Manchester, working with early-stage technology companies.
In 2017, Charlie founded Curios B2B Marketing and worked as its business growth strategist, marketing strategist, CMO, and LinkedIn trainer. Then in 2020, she founded The Curious Marketing Club.

Male Allyship in Aviation: Why ‘Being a Nice Guy’ Isn’t Enough”
In this article, Charlie Whyman explores why well-meaning support from men in the aviation industry falls short when it remains passive. At an event hosted by the Advancing Women in Aviation Roundtables, Whyman reflects on how true allyship requires self-awareness, deliberate action, and the willingness to challenge norms — rather than simply “being nice.” He outlines ten practical steps men can take to actively support women in aviation, emphasising that real change comes when behaviour shifts from supportive intention to concrete advocacy.
Stop Calling ADHD a Superpower. Batman doesn’t have superpowers, neither do I.”
In this piece, Charlie Whyman challenges the popular notion that ADHD should be celebrated as a “superpower.” Drawing on his own recent diagnosis, he argues that success for neurodivergent individuals isn’t the result of innate magic but of building and using a toolkit of strategies — the mental “utility belt” that helps navigate everyday challenges and complex tasks alike. Whyman invites readers to focus on what works, admit what doesn’t, and recognise that resilience and adaptation—not mythologised powers—make the difference.
Both pieces can be delivered as keynote talks. Charlie is a highly sought-after keynote speaker who helps leaders rethink how they approach challenges in their personal and professional lives, break free from limitations, and build confident teams.
Charlie has formed the OTTER Framework, which allows you to increase profits from your marketing and sales efforts, communicate marketing more effectively with other teams, reduce your team’s overwhelm, make more informed decisions, and create highly effective campaigns that deliver real results.
Charlie is the host of The Curiosity Key podcast, which explores how you can be intentional with your curiosity to achieve more with your B2B Marketing. A weekly podcast features interviews with innovators, change-makers, and disruptors wanting to make an impact in the world. Topics she has featured include using marketing to attract the right people, leveraging LinkedIn, how to do your own marketing, how to get more out of online events, networking, and technology.
– Leadership and Change: Thriving in uncertain industries, leading a global and diverse team
– Women in Male-Dominated Fields: Confidence, mindset, and action
– Sales and Marketing For Leaders: Thinking commercially without losing impact
– Lessons From Sports and Engineering: How elite coaching principles apply to business

Her latest keynote talk is Daring to Try: Choosing Courage Over Confidence. In the fast-paced world of technology, fear can keep us stuck, whether it’s holding back from asking for a promotion, or hesitating to pursue that next big career step. We’re often told we just need more confidence, but what if there’s more to it? This talk challenges the myth of confidence and shifts the focus to courage as the real key to moving forward.
Charlie Whyman – Key Takeaways:
– The Confidence Myth: Why confidence isn’t the missing piece we’ve been led to believe, and why courage is more essential to overcoming fear.
– Understanding and Recognising Fear: How fear shows up and how it holds you back from achieving more.
– Courage Vs Confidence: Why courage is about daring to act despite fear, while confidence often comes after you’ve taken the first step.

I just wanted to say a big thank you for your session and presentation this morning. I have spoken to many delegates today and your session set up the day to be successful. Getting the delegates talking really helped and the energy carried on throughout the day.
Paul O’Nions, Chair of the British Healthcare Business Intelligence Association
I wanted to reach out and share my experience from the BHBIA conference yesterday, which I attended for the first time. I found your ‘Courage in Motion’ session hugely valuable and inspiring. The ‘Re-Think, Re-Frame, and Re-Train’ model really helped me re-evaluate the messages I convey to myself on a daily basis and inspired me to believe that anything is possible. This was especially valuable to me as I am just starting out in my career in the pharmaceutical industry. Your ability to connect with the audience and deliver such impactful insights was fantastic. Thank you so much for the inspiration and guidance.

Charlie spoke at not one, but three of my Salesforce Women in Tech events because she is such a brilliant, effortlessly engaging public speaker with tons of personality and helpful learnings to share. I learned a lot from her marketing talks – advice I still use in my career to this day. Couldn’t recommend her enough, she really gets you thinking out of the box.

I saw Charlie speak at a Business Marketing Club event pre-pandemic and invited her to speak at our Medilink Midlands Life Sciences Marketing Special Interest Group as I knew she’d offer loads to our group. Charlie is not your average speaker, her webinar presentations included elements that the group could interact with as well as lots of actionable takeaways they can implement straight away. Marketing in the life sciences industry is not easy so it was great to see participants rate the webinar so highly in the feedback.

I’ve experienced a number of LinkedIn masterclasses over the years and wondered if I would learn anything new when Charlie recently delivered an online masterclass to a group of speakers. Wow. What an excellent presentation.
