More About Charlie Guest

Charlie Guest first started skiing when she was just three years old. Her home in the Scottish Highlands provided her with the perfect training opportunities. Proving to be a natural, she joined the British Ski Academy in France aged 12, and it wasn’t long before the medals started coming in.

When she was 14, she became the youngest British girl to win an international junior race.

She won her first senior British title in 2013 and would go on to win over a dozen medals, including six golds and eight titles at the junior and senior British National Alpine Ski Championships.

– February 2009 – Represents Britain at European Youth Olympic Festival in Szczyrk, competing in Slalom and Giant Slalom
– March 2012 – Wins British National Junior Championships Downhill race in Meribel
– January 2013 – Makes World Cup debut in Flachau Slalom
– March 2013 – Takes victory in two National Junior Championships (Super-G, Slalom) and one National Championships (Super Combined) race in Meribel
– February 2015 – Makes World Championships debut in Vail / Beaver Creek, competing in Slalom and Giant Slalom
– February 2018 – Selected to represent Team GB at PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games, competing in Slalom and Team Parallel
– March 2019 – Wins Folgaria Slalom EC, becoming first British woman to ever win an Alpine EC event
– December 2019 – Records first World Cup top-30 with 29th place in St. Moritz Parallel Slalom World Cup
– January 2022 – Achieves career high individual World Cup result with 13th place in Schladming Slalom World Cup
– February 2022 – Competes in second Olympic Winter Games in Beijing finishing in 21st place in Slalom
– February 2024 – Takes final EC podium with second place in Malbun Slalom EC

Charlie Guest | Career Setbacks

Her sporting career has not been without its setbacks, however. In 2014, whilst training in Sweden, she hit a boulder and broke four vertebrae in her spine. An injury like this has the potential to, at best, end her career and, at worst, paralyse her. Luckily, she was wearing a back protector, which meant her recovery was quicker, and she was back on the slopes just three months later.

Outside of her international sporting career, Charlie has studied Psychology at the University of Aberdeen, and works closely with the Scottish Institute of Sport, who provide strength, conditioning, nutrition, and physiotherapy to world-class athletes.
