More About Bradley Scanes

Bradley Scanes has qualifications in Sport and Exercise Science, and in Physiotherapy; his career started in the NHS before he moved into professional sport, working with Southend United FC, Team GB Basketball, Team GB Gymnastics, women’s rugby, and elite athletes in boxing, cycling, and UFC.

With a BSc in Sport & Exercise Science and an MSc in Physiotherapy, Brad’s career began in the UK’s National Health Service before moving into professional sport. His experience includes:

• Leading the medical team at Southend United FC.
• Working with elite athletes in UFC, boxing, and cycling.
• Supporting Team GB Basketball and Team GB Gymnastics, where he helped Max Whitlock achieve Olympic and World Championship gold medals.

Bradley is best known for spending five years as the performance coach to Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen overseeing his physiotherapy, physical conditioning, recovery, nutrition, and sleep management. His role is believed to be instrumental in Verstappen’s rise to the top of Formula 1.

In 2024, he transitioned from F1 to work across all motorsport disciplines, and is now a human performance consultant for Honda Racing Corporation, working at the Indy 500 and Daytona 24 Hours.
