Bradley Scanes is a high-performance coach and physiotherapist who has helped bring championship results for Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen, as well as Olympic athletes such as Max Whitlock.
Working in elite sport for over 14 years, his work with Verstappen showcased his exceptional ability to optimise an athlete’s performance through intense preparation and training, as well as developing the winning mindset, resilience, coping with change, and sustaining peak performance under extreme pressure.
Bradley Scanes has qualifications in Sport and Exercise Science, and in Physiotherapy; his career started in the NHS before he moved into professional sport, working with Southend United FC, Team GB Basketball, Team GB Gymnastics, women’s rugby, and elite athletes in boxing, cycling, and UFC.
With a BSc in Sport & Exercise Science and an MSc in Physiotherapy, Brad’s career began in the UK’s National Health Service before moving into professional sport. His experience includes:
Bradley is best known for spending five years as the performance coach to Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen overseeing his physiotherapy, physical conditioning, recovery, nutrition, and sleep management. His role is believed to be instrumental in Verstappen’s rise to the top of Formula 1.
In 2024, he transitioned from F1 to work across all motorsport disciplines, and is now a human performance consultant for Honda Racing Corporation, working at the Indy 500 and Daytona 24 Hours.
