Known for her work as the first female Political Editor for Sky News, Beth Rigby is a highly experienced news reporter, focussing on the UK Government and politics in general.
Since joining the channel in 2016, Beth has covered important current topics, including general elections, Brexit, and the COVID Pandemic.
Named the “stand-out political broadcaster of our times” by the Royal Television Society, Beth is a popular face on our TV screens and is now a highly respected political speaker for corporate events.
Beth Rigby has always been interested in social and political news, first studying Social and Political Science at the University of Cambridge, then gaining an MA in Latin American Studies, Economics and Development Studies from the University of London.
After graduating, she went straight into work for The Financial Times, a place of work she would stay for 13 years. Starting as a Graduate Trainee, Beth gradually worked her way up to Hedge Fund Correspondent, Retail Correspondent, Consumer Industries Editor, Chief Political Correspondent, and finally Deputy Political Editor before spending a year at The Times as their Media Editor. During this time, she covered stories including general elections, the financial crash, and the Scottish independence referendum.
Beth moved from print media to television, joining Sky in 2016. Since then, she’s worked as their Senior Political Correspondent and Deputy Political Editor and now sits as their Political Editor – quite an achievement in such a short time.
She has also provided her political expertise to BBC One’s Sunday political show, The Andrew Marr Show, Daily Politics, Channel 4 News, Have I Got News For You, and Good Morning Britain. She can also be found sharing her knowledge on social media with a following of over half a million.
As well as a familiar face on our TV screens, Beth has been a popular voice on the radio. She has presented for Radio 4’s What the Papers Say and The Week in Westminster, and appeared as a guest on the Today programme and Women’s Hour. Since March 2022, she has hosted Sky News’ podcast Beth Rigby Interviews, where she analyses that week’s political stories and interviews big names inside and outside the political world. Guests have included Boris Johnson, Rishi Sunak, Matt Hancock, Gary Neville, Dame Emma Thompson, Sean Paul, Penny Mordaunt, Sir Keir Starmer, and Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe.
