More About Anthony Barry

As a player, Anthony Barry signed for Everton as a trainee before signing to Coventry City for his senior debut. Over the years, he played for other clubs including Accrington Stanley, Yeovil Town, Chester City, Wrexham, Fleetwood Town, and Forest Green Rovers, making 279 appearances overall.

Whilst playing for Accrington Stanley in 2015, Anthony started his coaching career when he managed their under-16 team.

After retiring from playing in 2017, he joined Wigan Athletic as their assistant coach to Paul Cook. He stayed there for three years before becoming first-team coach at Chelsea until 2021, when he joined Stephen Kenny’s Republic of Ireland coaching team, balancing the Chelsea and NI roles. The following year, he joined Belgium’s coaching team, coaching the world’s number one ranked team for the upcoming World Cup.

He joined Bayern Munich in 2023 under Thomas Tuchel. When Thomas was named the England coach in 2024, Anthony went with him, joining the coaching team as their assistant manager.
