Andy Torbet is an extreme adventure, sportsman and explorer, stuntman, filmmaker, and presenter, often utilising his high-level skills as a deep and cave diver, freediver, skydiver, and outdoorsman.
To date, he has presented on 18 television series for the BBC, CBBC, Discovery US, and History, and has written articles for the likes of FHM, Men’s Fitness, ScubaDiver, Climber, Skydive, The Mail on Sunday, and The Telegraph.
As well as working on his own shows, Andy has performed stunts on movies including James Bond’s 25th outing, No Time to Die.
Andy Torbet spent a decade in the British Forces as a diver, paratrooper, and bomb disposal officer. During his time in the forces, he commanded the Army’s underwater and airborne bomb disposal teams, as well as the high risk search team of the maritime counter-terrorism unit. He was deployed on operations across the world, including in Northern Ireland, Afghanistan, the Falklands, Iraq, Bosnia, and Kosovo.
Andy has an interest in a variety of academic and social subjects and holds a degree in zoology, a diploma in nautical archaeology, is studying for a Masters in archaeology, and is even a member of MENSA. He is a patron of a number of charities, including The Felix Fund, Deptherapy, and The Oliver Ridley Project, and is a brand ambassador for Bailey of Bristol and SEALIFE.

Andy is an accomplished underwater explorer with a high level of experience in deep, technical and cave diving which has taken him all over the globe. Using everything from old fashioned SCUBA to the latest technology in mixed gases, he has mapped new submerged cave systems, and discovered a number of lost war shipwrecks.
He holds a number of underwater qualifications, such as ADC Commercial Diving Supervisor, Swift Water and Flood Search and Rescue Team Leader, River Canoe and Sea Kayak instructor, Boat Operator, CCR Cave Diver, Hypoxic Rebreather Diver, and is also an underwater medic.
With experience working for the Armed Forces’ airborne bomb disposal team, Andy is qualified in wingsuiting, formation, camera skydiving, speed and formation coaching. He holds a BPA D Licence with over 1,000 jumps under his belt; is HALO trained; and has been involved in test projects for UK space agencies.
He has performed a high altitude high opening jump from 28,000 feet for a BBC science project, and raced a Peregrine Falcon, the fasted animal on Earth, in free-fall, achieving speeds of over 240mph. He also competes in speed skydiving, and represented Team GB in the 2022 World Skydiving Championships.

He is a qualified mountaineering and climbing instructor and member of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors; he has formed new routes and achieved first ascents in the UK, Canada, and Pakistan; and has even completed ice climbs on Greenlandic glaciers and icebergs in the Arctic Ocean.
Andy has provided his stunt performing services to a number of films and programmes, including No Time To Die (2019), Darkness Rising (2021), Masters of the Air (2021), Witcher (2021), Fast X (2022), and Sister Boniface (2022).
Andy has many years of experience providing advice and expertise to scientific and filming expeditions and technical project. He specialises in technical underwater safety and logistics but can also provide advice on skydiving filming globally and climbing and mountaineering projects. He helps with risk assessments, HSE requirements, legal responsibilities, safety and supervision, personnel requirements, security, and equipment requirements.

In 2018, Andy co-developed and presented the CBBC series Beyond Bionic; high-octane and fast-moving, the show saw Andy attempt to match, if not beat, the super-powers of animals using engineering and ingenuity. He has also co-presented Titanic’s Tragic Twin: The Britannic Disaster, and BBC 2’s Britain’s Ancient Capital: Secrets of Orkney. He is a regular guest on shows such as Coast and The One Show.
Andy is a regular contributor to a number of magazines, including Sport Diver, SCUBA, Diver, Climber, Canoe & Kayak, Sidetracked, Camping and Caravan Club, Dive, FHM and Men’s Fitness.
In 2015, he published his first book Extreme Adventures. The book charts some of Andy’s adventure quests and exploration projects around Great Britain. From finding lost shipwrecks deep under the English Channel to scaling the loose chalk cliffs of the Needles and from solo cave diving exploration in The Cave of Skulls to sea kayaking to St Kilda.
