Abbie Dewhurst is a television presenter, weather forecaster, radio host, and sustainability expert.
She has worked for the BBC for a decade, predominantly as a weather forecaster, but also as a researcher, writer, and broadcast assistant.
Away from work, she is learning lots of new DIY skills whilst renovating a 19th-century cottage, is a keen weightlifter and lover of CrossFit, and is a proud dog mum to her rescue dog.
By her own admission, Abbie Dewhurst loves being in the spotlight, and as a child she did everything from joining theatre groups to putting on a show for her family at home.
After a year working for Wilkin Chapman LLP as a Trainee Legal Executive, Abbie went back into the world of media and started looking at TV and Radio positions. She initially started as a young reporter for The Grimsby Telegraph, but was soon approached by the production company East Coast Pictures, where she worked as a presenter, researcher, and writer. And she has never looked back.

She spent three years presenting for Siren FM where she co-presented their Monday night drive programme, welcoming guests such as Angela Rippon, and discussing a range of topics from breast cancer awareness to gingerbread recipes. At the same time, she presented for Motor TV, providing coverage on races, interviewing drivers and providing commentary.
In 2014 she joined the BBC as a Broadcast Assistant before becoming their Weather Presenter in 2016, a position she kept until 2024.
Abbie has spent many years making regular digital content on climate change, and sustainability, and has been featured in Hello Magazine and on BBC Radio 1’s Newsbeat as an expert in her field. She has built up an impressive social media following of over 140,000, with over 1.7 million likes on TikTok – her most popular video has 3.4 million views alone. She also hosts her own YouTube show “Confessions of a Weather Girl” where she provides a behind-the-scenes look at her role in presenting.
She’s been a real trail blazer in combining her BBC presenting job with the ever-changing world of social media, something that came naturally to her being the youngest ever BBC weather presenter at the age of 22.

Often found in the depths of Kielder Forest or the Brecon Beacons during a weekend covering rally championships or track sprint series’, Abbie had an adrenaline filled few years to launch her into the wonderful world of sports broadcasting. From motors to meteorology, sport to sustainability, Abbie’s done it all.
She has presented from the Wimbledon tennis championships in 2023 as their environment reporter, covered motorsport on Sky TV, and presented live from rally championships up and down the country.
She also took part in the Diana Award to help inspire and empower young people.
Abbie’s varied broadcasting career is a good representation of her personality being a northern country girl who grew up loving sport, fashion, performing, playing the drums and generally being outdoors…and the centre of attention! She’s always up for trying new things.
Abbie’s warm and relatable presenting style has made her a popular character in her field and an expert speaker on a range of topics.
