Get a Voiceover with Homestudio – How The Voiceover Industry Has Change Since Covid-19.

29th Jun 2020

There’s no denying that in the unfortunate current climate, the face of voiceover and how production is run has changed quite a lot over the last few months so find a Voiceover with Homestudio.

Production has halted and studios are closed. Travel is limited. It’s clear that many voiceover artists are unable to attend studio sessions to record directly with their client/hiring production company and it’s not too certain how long these restrictions to the industry will be in play.

Fortunately for us at Great British Voices, we’ve still managed to help clients turn their projects around fast and meet tight deadlines by having all our voices set up as a Voiceover with Homestudio. Our VO’s all work from professional-quality home studio facilities and are proficient in using high-tech studio equipment, editing material and self-directing; many of our artists also have efficient dial-in facilities such as ISDN or ipDTL connections and if not, can connect via Skype, Zoom, ISDN or similar…

And in the current circumstances, this is brilliant! Not only does recording from home keep production costs low, but also reduces risks as our artists do not need to travel to a public studio to record a script.

Here Katie gives us a tour of her professional garden (home) studio.

In these trying times, we are also seeing a change in the types of videos being produced, and voiceover briefs adapting.

We’re obviously not seeing an influx of holiday ads like in previous years, nor the ‘Voice of God’ enquiries for live announcers/MC’s and hosts which are popular for summer events and award ceremonies.

Corporate voiceover is also changing with our Voiceover with Homestudio talent…

As schools remain closed or have strict limitations in place, at least for the foreseeable future, we expect explainers, training videos and e-learning courses to become more mainstream in everyday education.

Audiobook narrators may become more in-demand, not just to educate, but to encourage imagination and creativity, especially in younger kids where home-schooling is currently routine.

Furthermore, as many businesses are now allowing employees to work from home, corporate training videos are also having an important role to play in ensuring employee’s skills stay relevant.  Similarly, explainer/information videos remain a great way to keep your employees and potential clients engaged – and even if you cannot promote your business at this time, it’s still good to make your presence known.

We’ve also experienced an increase in medical explainer too. Over the last few months, we’ve provided voiceovers for a number of Covid-19 safety videos, from how care home workers should be administering treatments during lockdown, to the latest hygiene and safety guidelines for retail and hospitality venues.

Start-up companies such as telbee are also a great way for businesses to enhance communications with their customers through an online message recording service.

Whether you require a corporate read, commercial or something more, it’s evident that Covid-19 has changed the way your production will be created and/or viewed. The power of voice on a project is now ever more vital, not only does it have to carry your message, but connect with your audience in a way that we can no longer do face-to-face.
