25th Jun 2021

There is massive awareness around mental health at the moment, with many organisations putting in place structures and activities to help colleagues improve their wellness, particularly in relation to Covid, and the subsequent effects of Lockdown.

We’ve had some super reviews on bookings with high profile names such as Roman Kemp whose programme ‘Our Silent Emergency‘ on men’s health and suicide hit the headlines.

With this in mind, our founding director Jane Farnham chatted to avid and active mental health campaigner Steve Carr one of our stellar motivational mental health speakers.

After a traumatic incident shook the lives of Steve Carr and his family, he realised nothing would be the same again. Steve ended up homeless and addicted to drugs. He quite literally lost everything.

Steve isn’t just someone who talks mental health, he’s qualified in many areas of mental health, including youth and adult mental health first aid, life coaching, counselling skills and one of only a handful of Suicide First Aid tutors in the country.

His insights and knowledge come from academic studies and lived experience of extreme poor mental to making a full recovery

A mental health speaker and much more…

In his speaking career he has shared the stage at some of the UK’s most recognised organisations and has told his inspirational story along side many famous and well respect public figures including Dame Kelly Holmes and Kirsty Gallacher.

1. Homelessness

2. Suicide

3. Mental Health

Steve has been asked to help and consult with many organisations about mental health and suicide prevention after his talks due to his extensive knowledge from both lived experience and academic knowledge of these subjects.

Steve is the MD of Mindcanyon – Mental Health In Your Workplace and a mental health first aid, workplace well-being and suicide first-aid training.

There are many areas and focus points that Steve shares In his teaching to organisations all over the UK, from policymaking, homelessness, resilience, the importance of mental health and suicide first aid training and how to spot the early warning signs of distress.

Steve is incredibly engaging, captures the audience (even the sceptics!) and offers a tangible toolkit that any manager can use in the workplace. What they did for us other than the toolkit mentioned was to start the conversation, which in itself was very powerful.
