An Olympic swimmer and multiple world record breaker over the short course sprints, Mark Foster has grown into one of the most recognised and respected names in British Sport.
He has been seen on billboards, buses and on London Underground for over a decade in his role as the long-term brand ambassador for ‘Wellman’ nutritional products, and more recently has been signed as a Global ambassador for Speedo.
Mark burst onto the International swimming scene, at the age of 16, representing England at the 1986 Commonwealth Games. He went on to represent his country for 23 years and became Britain’s most decorated male swimmer. Throughout his remarkable career, he won 47 major international medals; competed at 5 Olympics, been 6 times World Champion, 11 times European Champion, 2 times Commonwealth Champion and broke the World record 8 times. Mark was also chosen as the flag bearer, to lead out Team GB, at the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Since retiring from swimming Mark has become a familiar face on television, and his award-winning partnership with Clare Balding, from the aquatics centre during the Olympics in 2012, made him a household name. Mark’s expertise and personable manner saw him co-hosting the Swimming World Championships 2013, with Gabby Logan and Rebecca Adlington, live from Barcelona. To add to Mark’s TV appearances, he has since been reunited with Clare as a regular presenter on the Clare Balding Show series for BT Sport. He has been a regular participant on Countdown, Question of Sport, Celebrity Masterchef, as well as a host of other charity shows and campaigns.
Mark has also worked closely with British Gas, the principal partner of British Swimming, as a brand ambassador for ‘Swim Britain’, a 2013 initiative to get the nation fitter and healthier by inspiring 500,000 people to swim more often by 2015.
Mark’s post-swimming career has seen him reinvent himself as a successful motivational speaker and is now one of the most popular motivational speakers on the circuit. His ability to talk to a variety of audiences about a wide range of subjects makes him highly sort after. He is also a regular blogger for the Huffington Post on current issues, sport and lifestyle.
