Jo Malone started her multinational fragrance company from home in the early nineties. As a facial therapists, Jo would make her own thank-you gifts for her clients and her first product, a ginger and nutmeg bath oil, became so popular that in 1994, Jo and her husband Gary opened their own fragrance shop in Chelsea, London. In 1999, Estee Lauder Companies Inc brought The Jo Malone Brand, with Jo remaining as creative director. She continued to develop new fragrances and challenge conventional beauty ideals; as such, she soon became an innovator in the beauty industry.
In 2006, both Jo and her husband left the company to work in different sectors of the industry. Jo has since made her television debut with her own four-part show High Street Dreams (2010) on BBC1, which followed Jo as she attempted to help struggling businesses achieve their potential using her entrepreneurial expertise. Jo has also made guest appearances on BBC Breakfast, LK Today, Working Lunch and Loose Women as well as been a guest speaker on BBC Radio 2 and BBC 4’s Desert Island Discs.
In 2008, Jo received an MBE for her services to the beauty industry and her memoir’s My Story was published in 2016.
