Actor and comedian Tom Binns is the star of hit BBC1 series Hospital People. Having a created the show in 2016 as part of his BBC 2 Comedy Showcase, Tom portrays 4 of the main characters in the sitcom, including hospital porter and holistic healing enthusiast, Ian D Montfort and the resident hospital radio DJ, Ivan Brackenbury.
Before starring him as the main character in Hospital People, Tom performed as 'Ian D Montfort' at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and starred him in the short film Going to Mecca for which Tom won a Virgin Shorts Award. As Montfort, Tom co-hosted with comedian Ed Byrne on BBC Radio 2 and created the 2013 series Ian D Montfort is Unbelievable.
As a live entertainer, Tom has a performed all over the world. He has been nominated for awards at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards, the Adelaide Fringe Comedy Awards and the Chortle Comedy Awards. He also won ‘Best International Act’ at the New Zealand Comedy Festival. He has been recognised by Chortle as hosting one of the ‘50 Most Memorable Gigs of the Decade,’ won a Fosters Comedy Gold Award and was voted 84th Sexiest Man in the World by the readers of More Magazine in 2002.
Tom is available for after-dinner events and performs a 20-minute comedy set as one of his most treasured characters.
