Phil is a 62 yrs old ultra-marathon mountain endurance runner, personal trainer and motivational speaker who has run the Grand Canyon from Rim to Rim twice at 60! He looks great, is very entertaining and originates from Yorkshire.
He was also a partner in a successful model agency for many years where he used to train the New Faces in nutrition, fitness and camera technique as he also modelled in his younger days.
After qualifying with a BA (Hons) Degree at Liverpool University Phil pursued an active Sports and Marketing career. In 1986 he set up a Model/Sports agency specialising in fit and healthy men and girls for the advertising, commercial and fashion industries as well as TV and magazines. Phil's main role was the development of athletic, toned models which helped the agency www.modelplanactive.com grow into it's respected position as market leader in this field.
He inspired many models including Nell McAndrew, celebrity model and elite marathon runner, who appeared in the very first ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’. After 27 years of experience of working and training men and women of all ages he gained a thorough understanding of how to get the best out of his clients.
Having played sports and run many competitive half and full marathons Phil decided at the age of 57 to become an Ultra-marathon mountain runner. His dedication to this task is well documented in his popular blog which is read regularly in over 50 countries.
In his first year of this gruelling and demanding sport, he succeeded in his goal of running 5 ultra-marathons in Europe and the USA in the same year. The training, planning and nutritional requirements of these events, often lasting over 10 or more hours whilst climbing mountains and sometimes at night, led Phil to become a respected authority in this field of fitness and health.
Later Phil undertook a qualification in Crossfit Endurance which specializes in using Strength and conditioning exercises including sprinting and running technique to not only improve his ability but more importantly the capabilities of his clients in unleashing their potential in improved fitness, fat loss and running performance. This new discipline required a brand new set of skills as well as a totally different training method and nutritional regime to Ultra-marathons and as a result of Phil recently cut his own body fat to just 8%, highly unusual in distance runners.
As a way of proving the effectiveness of these two distinct disciplines Phil recently completed the gruelling Grand Canyon Rim to Rim run, climbing and descending a cumulative 15,000 feet in temperatures ranging from -2 degrees to over 100 degrees, alone and unsupported, in just over 8 hours.
Subsequently, Phil is in demand as a personal trainer and motivational speaker covering topics such as exercise, nutrition, and how to make positive changes in your professional and personal life. He speaks candidly, is entertaining, informative and is passionate about helping people improve the quality of their lives.
