GBS Elinor Barker

Despite only being in her early twenties, Elinor has already been an Olympic gold medallist, a world champion and a world record holder.

As a junior, she made her mark by winning gold in the individual pursuit at the British National Track Championships in 2011. 2012 saw Elinor win gold medals in both the individual and team pursuit events at the European Junior Track Championships and a gold medal in the UCI Juniors World Road Championships.

In 2013, Elinor moved up to compete as a senior. Playing a pivotal role in setting a new world record in the team pursuit with a time of 4:26:556, she went on to be a part of the team that broke this record twice in Mexico at the UCI Track Cycling World Cup, with the current world record time of 4:16:552. At the same meet, Elinor won a silver medal in the individual pursuit and set a new personal best of 3:31:070.

In 2014, Elinor cemented herself as a mainstay force in British cycling. She was part of the team which earned another gold medal in Columbia, at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in the team pursuit. In recognition of her success, Elinor was named as part of Team Wales, for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games. Here she won a Silver Medal in the points race and a Bronze Medal in the scratch race.

In 2015, on the road, Elinor joined the Matrix Vulpine ‘On the Drops’ team from Wiggle Honda and was delighted to complete her first Women’s Tour of Britain. On the track, Elinor won the Silver medal at the UCI Track World Championships in the Team Pursuit.

August 2016 saw the highlight of Elinor’s career when she made her dreams of Olympic glory a reality: winning gold and breaking the World and Olympic Record at the Rio Olympics as part of the Women’s Track Team.

Post Olympics, Elinor has admirably followed up her Team Pursuit Gold by taking Silver in the Scratch race at the European Championships and Gold in the Points race at the Track Cycling World Cup.
